Cropping Images
Cropping in Bibble is fast and easy. The crop tool allows you to re-compose your image or to change the aspect ratio to match your desired output shape. To apply a crop:
| 1. | Select the Crop Cursor from the Bibble Toolbar, or simply press "C". |
| 2. | Selecting the crop cursor will open the Cropping Window, shown here. |
| 3. | Then either click and drag to create a crop of any size or shape |
|
|

|
OR
| 3. | Select a Crop Preset from the drop-down box in the crop tool to pick a standard crop shape, then click Enable Crop. |
The Preview of your image will update to show the crop you have selected, as shown in the image to the right.
About the Cropping Window
The cropping window includes the following controls:
| • | Enable Crop - toggles the chosen crop on or off |
| • | Fit - Expands the cropped region to be as big as possible, and centers the crop on your image |
| • | Preset Dropdown - Allows you to select from preset sizes or aspect ratios |
|
|

|
| • | - Adds the currently defined crop settings as a saved crop, which will be added to the Preset Dropdown |
| • | Height & Width - Shows the size of your crop either in Aspect Ratios or in actual pixles |
| • | - Switches the Height & Width values |
| • | Crop Mode selection - Allows you to choose between Aspect and Pixel Crops. Aspect Crops allow you to define relative sizes like "8 by 10" or "3 by 5" where pixel crops allow you to define actual pixel dimensions like 1000x1000 or 512x512. |
| • | Lock - Allows to you lock the aspect ratio of the current crop so that enlarging or shrinking the crop will maintain the same aspect ratio |
NOTE: Any time the crop cursor is selected, your full image will be shown with the crop overlayed on the image, allowing you to easily move or adjust the cropped area. To hide the cropped portion of your image, simply select any of the other Cursor tools, for example the Pan & Zoom tool by pressing H.
Adjusting Crop Size and Position
While the Crop Cursor is selected, use your mouse scroll-wheel to make the current crop larger or smaller.
OR
Click and drag a corner or edge of your current crop to make the crop size larger or smaller. If the aspect ratio is unlocked (see the lock icon on the Cropping Window), resizing by dragging will change the shape of your crop. If the aspect ratio is locked, then dragging will grow or shrink the crop, but will maintain the current aspect ratio.
Click and drag inside the crop selection to reposition the crop.
Straightening Images
Straightening allows you to correct for tinted horizons or to apply a creative tilt to your images. This can be adjusted with the Straighten control on the Basic Adjustments tool panel, but it is often much easer to straighten using the Straighten Cursor.
To straighten an image:
| 1. | Select the Straighten Cursor from the Bibble Toolbar, or simply press S to select the crop cursor. |
| 2. | Click and drag within the Preview Image, drawing a line that you would like to be either horizontal or vertical. The example below shows that the photographer clicked on the top left corner of the door frame, and dragged along the top of the frame, as that line is easy to see in the photo and should be horizontal. |
