Custom Default & Import Settings

When Bibble 5 first opens or imports an image, it looks for a Bibble 5 Settings file for that image.  If it finds one, it will apply the settings in that file as the settings to apply initially to that image.  If a Bibble 5 Settings file cannot be found, Bibble applies default image settings to the image.

Note: For images imported into a Bibble 5 Catalog, these Initial Settings are stored and you can quickly revert to these settings at any time.

You can customize these defaults so you can easily apply your standard adjustments to every image that Bibble opens.  Remember that you can quickly apply image adjustments with Presets also, so make sure you really want to apply the settings you're working with to every image before saving those settings as the default image settings.

Bibble comes with two different defaults, one for RAW image formats, and another for "rendered" images like JPEG and TIFF files.  Since rendered files like JPEG's and TIFF's are likely to have already been adjusted by the camera or other editing software, the defaults for rendered images applies no additional sharpening or other adjustments.  You can replace these defaults with your customized default settings, or with Bibble 5 Pro you can create new defaults specific to the current Make and Model of camera you're using.  This allows you to adjust the initial settings for each camera you shoot with, allowing you to adjust each separately.

To Create New Defaults

1.Select an image of the same type as the defaults you want to save.  This should be either a JPEG or TIFF if you want to save new rendered default settings, a RAW file if you want to save default settings for all RAW formats, or the image should be from the camera make and model if you want to save camera default settings (Pro only).
2.Make the adjustments to the current image - applying only the settings you want to save as the default settings.
3.Right-click (or command-click on a mac) to bring up the context menu shown to the right, and select the Settings... sub-menu
4.Then select the type of default you want to save

Any new images that Bibble 5 encounters will use the new default settings as that image's initial settings.

To View or Remove Custom Defaults

The Preference Panel for Defaults lists all custom defaults that have been created, and allows you to view settings that each custom default includes and also allows you to remove a custom default.

Revert to Current Default

You can easily revert an image to its default settings as any time.  This will apply the current default settings for that image type, camera make and model.

Revert to Initial Settings

Within a Bibble 5 Catalog, you can revert to the default image settings as described above, or you can revert to the settings used on import.  Also, images in a Bibble 5 catalog also have a complete Edit History, which starts with the initial import settings.  When working in File System Mode, the Initial Settings are those that Bibble started with at the beginning of that editing session.
