In File System Mode, finding images in Bibble is as simple as finding images in Windows Explorer, Mac's Finder or other file manager applications.

The Getting Started Chapter uses the File System mode, and walks you through the step by step process of finding and editing images.

Managing Versions & Image Files

Moving & Copying Versions

It's simple to move or copy images or folders from one folder to another - simply drag images from the Thumbnail Panel to the folder you want to move the images to.

Dragging a Version or Master will Move the image to the chosen location, while holding down Control or Command while dragging will Copy the image.

Renaming Versions

To rename one or more Versions:

1.Select the thumbnails for the Versions you want to rename
2.Press F2 or right-click and select Version -> Rename Version

The following Rename Dialog window will open:

rename-dialog

3.Edit the New Name field, using text or renaming formats like [date].  Or, select an existing Rename Format from the "Format" dropdown.
4.The Preview will update as you edit the New Name field to show you exactly what the rename format you are entering will result it.

The Rename Dialog has the following other controls and features:

Jobname: If you use [jobname] or [jobseq] in the New Name field, you can enter a Job Name here.  The sequence field [jobseq] will remember the last number used in any previous renaming for this Job Name, and will continue numbering where it left off.
Next [rseq] sequence number:  If you include [rseq] in the New Name field, that text will be replaced with a unique, incrementing sequence number that will start over the next time you rename Versions.  This control allows you to set the number
Reset [jobseq]: Restart the numbering for the Job Name Sequence selected.
Rename all Versions derived from Master Versions: With this checked, Bibble will sequentially number the Master Versions sequentially, and will name derived Versions with the same name as its Master Version, adding "_v1", "_v2" etc to each version.  If you do not check this option, then Bibble will give each Version a unique name.

See the section on Rename Formats for details.

The Master Files will be renamed on your computer, and any sidecar files will be renamed also.

Deleting Master Versions

Deleting images is as simple as selecting the ones you want to remove, and pressing the 'delete' key or right-clicking and selecting Versions -> Remove Versions.

Note: When Multi-View is enabled, only the single Active Version will be deleted, not the entire selection.

If you select one or more Master Versions, you'll be presented with the following confirmation:

version-delete-FS

Click 'Delete Master Files' to remove the selected Versions from Bibble, and to move the selected Master Files to your computers Recycle Bin.

Check the 'Do no prompt me again' box to automatically delete the images without asking for a confirmation next time you delete files.

Deleting Duplicate Versions

If you press "Delete' when you have selected only duplicate Versions in the thumbnail Panel without selecting Master Versions, then these versions will be removed from Bibble without asking for confirmation.

Un-Deleting Versions

If you accidentally delete duplicate Versions, Master Versions, or Master Files with Bibble 5, you can undo that deletion by pressing CTRL+Z or select Edit -> Undo, if you notice this deletion while you are still running Bibble 5.

Bibble 5 uses your computer's Recycle Bin or Trash Can when deleting Master Files.  This allows you to recover files deleted with Bibble 5 even after quitting Bibble 5.  However, this also means that deleting files in Bibble 5 WILL NOT immediately restore disk space, because the files are still on your computer or memory card.  Please 'Empty Trash' using your operating system's built-in tools to recover disk drive space after deleting images in Bibble 5.
