The Metadata Tool Tab contains tools to allow you to view and edit the Metadata associated with your images.

This tool shows EXIF and IPTC metadata assigned to the Active Version, and allows you to add, remove or edit the IPTC data from all selected images.

NOTE: Editing metadata from this tool affects all selected images, while the metadata displayed in the tool reflect only the Active Version.

You can select different Metadata Sets from the dropdown box at the top of the Metadata tool, which will switch what Metadata is shown.  Some metadata is read-only, like Shutter Speed and ISO Rating, while other metadata is editable, like Caption, Rating, and Date.

Managing Metadata Sets

You can create your own Metadata Sets, or edit any of the existing Sets using the Metadata Sets Manager. See the topic about the Metadata Sets Manager for details.

Keywords

This tool shows all Keywords assigned to the Active Version and all Selected Versions, and allows you to add or remove Keywords from all selected images.

NOTE: Adding or removing Keywords from the Keywords tool affects all selected images, while the Keywords displayed in the tool reflect only the Active Version.

The default Keyword Hierarchy separator is the semi-colon ";".

Keyword Sets

This tool provides a fast and easy way to assign Keywords to you photos.  You can groups similar keywords together in a Set, and show that Set in the Keyword Sets tool.

Assigning Keywords

You can assign Keywords to all selected Versions by any of the following actions:

Clicking on a Keyword in the Keyword Sets tool
Pressing the Hotkey associated with the Keyword

You can remove Keywords from all selected Versions by:

CTRL+Clicking on a Keyword in the Keyword Sets tool

Managing Keywords

Click the Manage button in the lower corner of the Keyword Sets tool to open the Keyword Manager.  This is where you assign Keywords to Sets, assign Hotkeys to Keywords and to Keyword Sets, as well as other Keyword Management tasks.  See the Keyword Manager topic for details.
